A short poem about an unhappy home.
“Home”

Primal screams echo through the house
Angry shouts retaliate
Hurtful words are said out loud
And I cower in blind fear

Home has never been safe
School looms like a threat
Public seems like an embarrassing masquerade
So why don’t I slit my wrists instead?

Stripping me of my innocence
Stripping me of my pride
Stripping me of my dignity
Stripping me of my rights

My heart just twists, twists and turns
It all hurts so bad
Mothers are there to care and protect
So why don’t I slit my wrists instead?
