STARLIGHT EXPRESS There is a train that arrives at night when the world is dark and still; and passengers prepare to board, each one with a destiny to fulfill. They don't look back or wave goodbye for the goodbyes have all been said; they join the others waiting patiently in the quietness of the newly dead. I remember Grandpa moaning in sleep about the train that was sure to come; but he didn't seem to be afraid of it, when he awoke with the morning sun. It was the next night when he left us, we all thought he was just asleep; but he had miles ahead of him to go, and many Heavenly rewards to reap. We didn't see him board the train but I think it is a pretty good guess that he was there, waiting right in line to board the Starlight Express. Oh, you who are unbelievers, come and look up at the starry night sky; the train is traveling faster and higher, soon gone, in the blinking of the eye! That train will come from out of nowhere and on up to Heaven it is surely bound; the tracks lead straight to pearly gates, where an eternal peace will be found. Amid the twinkling stars it travels on to another place and another time and one day, we will all meet again, when the time to climb aboard is mine. Countrymom 7/17/06 |
