a new beginning

Today I woke up and discovered a new day
A new life, a new me
My mind is fresh, my heart is filled with joy

Alone in my bed I lay, waiting...
Waiting for a sign...
Dear God, what is your plan with me today?
Nothing... no answer... no sign

Then I discover a hunger
A hunger so great my head spins
I am seeing stars, lights, gems
I am spinning! I am hungry!

Then suddenly I knew
This was the plan, and I smile...
Today I will give thanks
Give thanks for all my blessings
Give thanks for all my troubles
And give thanks for what I am about to receive

Today I will fast.
