sometimes we just don't want to play
Making Sunday

I sit here looking out my window
at the green fields beyond
Trees, green, swaying in the breeze under mostly blue skies
with puffy clouds drifting along and slowly contorting into new shapes

If I was awaiting for an epiphany, I could imagine or decide
that one of these shapes resembled and meant something,
but not

Here I sit on a Saturday morning, enjoying the quiet of the day
whilst I know there are so many already out there shopping
amongst traffic thick and fast
contributing to city street madness and urban colic

I think I will just stay home today with my cats
throw the shopping list aside and continue to look out the window
whilst the world passes by with the clouds looking down
and me realizing that I can't change the world
but I can shape my day, any day, into a lazy Sunday
