The Entertaining Life of Mel

This is the story of Melissa Joann Amick. You will learn how Melissa has grown and what she is like as you read this short story. So sit back, relax, and enjoy.
On May 30 of 1986, Audria Lynn Dickenson and Fredrick Scott Amick brought a baby girl into the world at 8:18 p.m. at the Dundune Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. Mel was Scott and Audria’s first baby, so they were both scared and excited at the same time.
When they brought Melissa home, Scott was very protective of her because so many people wanted to hold her. When Melissa was sound asleep Scott would go into her room to make sure she was still alive, he would shake her to make sure, then they would have an angry baby for awhile, but she always fell back asleep. Melissa started walking at eight months; that’s when she started to climb everything in sight. One day she had managed to climb up onto the fireplace mantle because she saw the cat up there and she wanted to play with it, Audria came in just in time to catch her before she fell.
One year and two months later Melissa became a big sister to Katherine Irene Amick. Katie was one month early because Melissa decided to play trampoline on her mothers stomach when she was resting on the floor and it made her go into labor, Katie weighed six pounds and she had to be put in an incubator to keep her warm. Today Katie is strong and healthy, thank god. Melissa was always getting in trouble, and she always managed to have Katie follow her. One day Melissa and Katie decided to play with the butter that grandma just bought, by the time they were finished they were covered from head to toe. Grandma snapped a picture and the girls got in trouble afterwards. Timeout was never fun; the girls seemed to hate it very much. After eight years of living in Florida, Audria and the girls moved to Clearfield, Iowa. Melissa attended school in Clearfield for six years, then later on they moved to Diagonal, Iowa, where she attended Diagonal from sixth grade to eleventh grade. Melissa now lives with Dan (her boyfriend) and his parents Scott and Beth. She moved because her mother was very troubled and Melissa couldn’t handle it any more. Melissa Jo had grown to become very delicate in some spots in the inside, but Melissa is also very strong in the inside as well.
Melissa now lives in Corwith, Iowa, where she is attending her last year of high school at C-W-L High School in Corwith. Melissa is doing very well, and she enjoys being up here in Corwith with her new friends. Melissa plans to attend NIACC to take nursing classes; she has always wanted to be a nurse just like her Aunt Lori.
Stir fry is Mel’s favorite food, and mashed potatoes are also right up there with stir fry. Cooking is something she does very well and she also enjoys cooking for others. Blue has always been Melissa’s favorite color; most the stuff she owns is blue. When she graduates college she wants to live on a farm or a horse ranch. Mel loves to ride horses a lot, she grew up with them but she has never had one of her own. Melissa likes to be outdoors most the time. She enjoys riding four-wheelers with friends and the thing she likes to do the most is go riding on the motorcycle with Dan. Camping is another thing Mel likes to do, sitting around the fire seems to be very relaxing for her. Some of the things that Mel is good at is she loves to sing, singing is the one thing that Melissa can do very well, along with cooking , and making friends. When people see how long her toes are they come to believe that she might be able to hold on to a tree branch with them, which she can not do but she can pick things up with them and most of her friends seem to be amazed when she does pick things up with her toes.
Melissa can be a very challenging person sometimes because she doesn’t like when people tell her what she should do with her life when they know that those are her decisions to make, but she manages to be nice about it and let them go easy instead of ripping off their heads like a lot of people do. Melissa doesn’t like fighting, so in that case many people will not see her arguing with people or throwing punches. Mel can be a very quiet person but once she gets to know you she never shuts up. In most cases she just waits until somebody comes to talk to her, if somebody wants to talk to her then they can go up and talk. Melissa gets along with anybody if they want to be friends; most the time she never has any trouble getting along with anybody. If Mel doesn’t like somebody they will know because they will be completely ignored by her.
