One of my day to day experiences as a music teacher.
Pathetic excuse for a music student, he is
otherwise occupied, I follow the raindrops from my window
noise-like would-be musical sounds assail my unwilling ears
make-believe water harmonies give better life to the wrong notes
listlessly played by another out-of-sync teen
killing time - and my ears - with useless lessons
joking about the importance of the (many) errors
inventing reasons not to practice at dawn
had done so myself at his age, I share
"Great heavens! Didn't you sleep man?"
fine streaks of rain leave artwork on the pane, daydreaming again
E-flat major has no f-sharps, but then who cares any more
difficult to help him learn when he doesn't try
carpe diem, today's motto sustaining irresponsibility
bothered by a stupid sonata personalized by indifference
accompanied though, by the pleasing rain
