A Poem about Loving the Wrong Person
Hello, How are you doing?
It took a long time to write this letter
Took some time to feel better
Took some time to look in your face
Took some some time for laughter to replace the tears I cried because you weren't by my side
Because you wanted to hustle and womanize
I looked in your face and what did I see?
A shady brother with no integrity
You couldn't tell me the truth so I learned on my own
That with the man you had become I was better off alone
My heart was open but you closed it with your lies
My love was for the taking but my affection you despised
My mind finally realized you weren't a man worth my time. I know that now but my heart still needs convincing.
They are battling and my heart so far has won.
All the while I'm watching and your life is becoming undone
You put your trust in money and you are losing it daily
You gave your word to a woman and both of you are shady.
Put your heart in your rep but everyone is laughing and you don't know why
It is because you built your life on other's opinions and believed their lies
I'm not mad or angry because loving you has been the best thing for me.
Yet I ask myself how can I love a man I am unable to trust?
One who won't trust his heart but is driven by his lusts
Someone who doesn't know his worth to me or himself so he tries to diminish mine
Someone whose love is all I want but who I'll let go if he just gives me a sign.
I'm better off without you because I cry when you are gone.
I'm better off without you because loving you is wrong.
I'm better off without you I need space to be myself.
I'm better off without you but I can't see loving someone else.
