First attempt at SIJO style poetry.
Stranger whose face calls me, do I know you yet in my dreams?
Unlikely character, your voice is like one I have always known
the beginnings of love and tenderness, my heart beats fast.

I often wonder, do you sleep well when not in my arms
My nightmares scare me into insomnia, the nighttime darkens
The telephone rings softly, your voice wakes me peacefully.

You have shared my bed for years, yet your face knows not my dreams
Our days in different cities are obscure, we share only our voices
To fall asleep I hold your ghost, waking always alone.

My house full of plants needing light, curtains are never drawn
My life escapes through the windows, curtains contain nothing discreet
My plants reflect my life's jungle, seen far and wide by all.

My life is bare without your presence, helping me grow strong
Strength seeks freedom through open windows, yet your presence retains it
The plants seeking light will not wilt, it is not so with my soul.
