A Shoebox of Lily

There’s a shoebox underneath my bed,
filled with Lily.
Glossy snapshots of Lily.
Of Lily’s face.
Lily has beautiful eyes.
Eyes circled with black eyeliner.
Lashes slathered in mascara.
Eyelids smeared with green, blue, and purple eye shadow.
Lily looks cute with her hair pulled into pigtails.
Short little pigtails they are to.
I always yank them in teasing.
Lily and I go shopping at thrift stores together.
One time she bought this black and white striped shirt.
And I teased her about being a criminal in jail.
She teased me about drinking vodka.
We used to share vodka in a bottle.
One of those bottles is in the shoebox of Lily.
