Two lovers come together in the end.
He stalks me in the night. I can hear his footsteps lightly behind me. In the shadows, I can nearly smell the fresh blood on his lips. I know that should I turn around there will be no one there. He is only seen when he wants to be, and the time is not right.

At the echoing of a heel click, my heart races. Somewhere deep inside, my body responds with desire. I slow my steps, a slight smile on my lips. Wondering whether he will try to catch me tonight, or if I must pursue him. I stroll silently, wondering how the game will play out.

I play coyly with my hair, baring my neck slightly. A silent invitation to my nocturnal lover. I wander the streets in the darkness. Visiting back alleys and commonly traveled thoughough fares alike.

As I travel, the click of heels mirrors mine precisely. He trails me pefectly. Allowing me to hear him with every step. He is teasingly near. If he breathed I would hear his breath on my neck. I am sure of it.

I push past a throng of people. A group of young adults, laughing and jostling each other. One of them bumps into me, slamming me against the rough concrete of a wall. They apologize good naturedly and move on. I move along and realize that my hand hurts.

I look down, seeing a small amount of blood trickle to my fingertips. Behind me the footsteps falter slightly. With a quiet smirk, I bring the hand to my lips and lick the wound. I am rewarded with a sharp intake of unneeded breath.

Out of the corner of my eye I see a shadow of the man following me. He has faltered for just a moment, as the image quickly fades. I love to tease him in this way. See his weaknesses amongst his many strengths.

I walk slowly into a dark alley, pull down the steel ladder to a fire escape. I look up at my target window and see the drape flowing slightly as a figure moves behind it. I smile and begin my ascent.

As I reach my window, I am greeted by strong cold arms of nearly marble. They grab me from behind and pull me into a cold and dark embrace. His voice beautiful and strong as it whispers in my ear.

"You look beautiful tonight. Why did you take so long?"

I turn in his arms and smile up at him. "It makes you all broody and intense." I laugh at him and try to push away.

"Not tonight, I will replace the clothes."

Suddenly his mouth closes over mine, his hunger and need gnawing at me. My own rising to greet his. I give myself to him completely. Losing myself in his embrace. Praying for this night to never end. Tonight I regret the coming dawn as much as he does.
