Thunder rolls over the plains and lightning reveals a man of courage standing alone...
Vengeance
I look forward into the night.
I see something far out of sight.
It's moving wildly to and fro.
Not much farther than a stone's throw.
It's coming closer at a rapid rate.
Imparting a sense of a dreadful fate.
The dark is growing thicker,
Pulsing with a life of its own.
Then I see the lightning flicker,
Lighting up a dreadful scene.
As big as a large bull,
With wings like a demons.
He comes closer still,
His fangs glistening with blood.
His intentions quite obvious,
I glance around furtively.
There on the ground,
shining silver against the night.
A sword so bright that he did not see.
I grabbed it up and braced for the hit.
I waited and waited, for hours it seemed.
He pulled up abruptly, but it was too late.
He screamed in terror and raked at my face.
The sword bit deep into his chest,
With the luck of an ace.
Then I saw it coming.
His last jerk of agony sent it my way.
The sword had shattered under the impact,
And for what happened to me, well, you'll see.
A splinter of silver,
just one silly little sliver,
Pierced deep into my body.
And with my dying breath,
I watched him finish dying.
Then all went dark.
And I was able to be with my family at last.
I had avenged them on the devil that had shown them the end.
Dracula.
