You come home
from work
on a Tuesday night
and she serves you
homemade stew
and beer.

As you're sitting there
reading the Enquirer,
she says she'd like to
talk to you
if that's okay
and you always
welcome a conversation
so you say sure.

She tells you
that she's leaving
you because she's
been unhappy for
thirty years
and she's fallen in love
with the butcher,
some guy named
Ed.

You say "Okey-dokey",
and ask if
there are any
cookies left.
