A tale about a being that continues to make mistakes without learning from them.
A dark being veiled in black cloth walked along a path of unknown destination. On either side of the path were nothing but faceless beings, each facing forward and observing the dark thing in its mysterious quest. The trail was riddled with holes, and from each hole extended another path either to the right or left where yet another with fewer holes was seen. The being, stubborn in its desire to walk this specific path, continually stepped into the holes, causing pain and injury onto itself. Ignoring all branching paths and all cries from the faceless onlookers, it continued.

As it walked ever onward the path became shadowed by dark and prodigious trees, casting pervading shadows over the already dark being. The holes became more frequent, the branching paths were slowly ceasing to be, and many of the faceless onlookers had long since left. With little strength left within, it took one final step, falling into a hole much too large. Unable to escape, it at last cried for help, but there was no longer anyone listening. Slumped against the bottom of the dark hole, it cried to itself, realizing that it was finally utterly alone with no comfort but shadows and spider webs.
