Getting home late, like usual..
Thursday Evening

The lights were off when he got home.
He closed the door quietly,
and it clicked as he locked it.
On the small wooden table by the door,
he placed his keys with a clank,
as he did every night.

He went to the kitchen, and opened the fridge.
Inside there was a plate with a chicken leg, mashed potatoes,
and corn on it that his wife had left for him.
He took the plate out, and placed it in the microwave.
While he waited, he grabbed himself a beer, and got a fork.

The beeping of the microwave broke the silence.
He took his plate of food from it, then headed to the living room.
Sitting on the couch, he watched Jay Leno while he ate.

After he finished, he turned off the TV.
He placed his fork and plate in the sink,
and his bottle of beer in the recycling bin.
Then headed upstairs.

He entered the bedroom to find his wife already asleep,
as he'd thought she was.
He closed their bathroom door quietly, then flicked the light on.
After flossing his teeth, he picked up his toothbrush,
and put a large glob of blue tooth paste on it.

He put the toothbrush away when he was done brushing.
Then took his clothes off.
His wool pajamas, which he grabbed and put on,
had been hanging on a hook on the bathroom door.
He turned the light off, quietly exited the bathroom,
and got into bed.
Trying not to wake his wife.
