Church floor, Grecia, Costa Rica ~ Tiled floor of the church in Grecia, Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Inside the church in Zarcero, Alvaro Ruiz, Alajuela, Costa Rica ~ Statues, carved columns, tiled floors are common in Costa Rican churches. Flowers? Not so common. These are a common Heliconia known in English as "bird-of-paradise".

Hotel don Beto, Zarcero, Alfaro Ruiz, Alajuela, Costa Rica ~ On the northeast corner of the park in Zarcero, this Mediterranean style hotel offers a view of the topiary work of Evangelisto Blanco. We stayed in the corner room that had two beds and two windows and a door to the balcony replete with geraniums. Byron and his cousin are hoping to open up a cafe in the lobby.
Hotel don Beto, Zarcero, Alfaro Ruiz, Alajuela, Costa Rica ~ Room #2. This window and door faces south towards the church and leads to the balcony where the topiary garden in is view. The windows are lace and solid curtains. There are two twin beds. This room shares a bath but was well worth the humble cost of a wonderful stay.
Can we dance? ~ The topiary work of Evangelisto Blanco is famous throughout Costa Rica. The gardens in the park in front of the church in Zarcero, Alvaro Ruiz, Alajuela are exquisitely maintained. I suspect this couple is dancing to their own tune.
Juriassic Park? ~ Juriassic Park was filmed partly on Cocos Island in Costa Rica; but, this dinosaur is the creation of Evangelisto Blanco and lives in the topiary gardens in front of the church in Zarcero, Alvaro Ruiz, Alajuela, Costa Rica. There are no signs he/she is a carnivore.
The hands of Evangelisto Blanco ~ Plaque honoring the magic of the master of the topiary gardens in Zarcero, Alvaro Ruiz, Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Face in the bush ~ Zarcero, Alvaro Ruiz, Alajuela, Costa Rica. One of the many faces Evangelico Blanco has carved in the wall of hedge surrounding his topiary gardens in Zarcero's park.
Evangelico Blanco and his bird ~ Evangelico Blanco weeds out plants, including iris, in the topiary garden he has created in front of the church in Zarcero, Alvaro Ruiz, Alajuela, Costa Rica. View is from the balcony of the Hotel don Beto looking southwest .
Church in Zarcero ~ A typical misty day, a typical church, a typical park, a unique topiary garden in Zarcero, Alvaro Ruiz, Alajuela, Costa Rica.
Butterfly ~ Resting on a broom handle, a butterfly holds still long enough for a camera shot in Orosi, Cartago, Costa Rica. Reminds me of a shoemaker butterfly. Wings open is more a trait of moths, but antennae seem to indicate a butterfly. Anyone know which genus or specie this might be?
OTIAC ~ The inner garden behind OTIAC leading to the classrooms where intensive Spanish is taught.
The Emperor, Hone Creek, Costa Rica ~ The Emperor at Chilamate, the home of Armodio Romero Blake.

Turrialba, Costa Rica. The Central Park. ~ Cupola in the center of Turrialba's park is typical of Costa Rican towns.

Downspouts from the roof water the plants in the urns. It is quite old, immaculately maintained and is fenced off.
