About This Newsletter

A banner for the Romance/Love newsletter.

Welcome to the end of the year Holidays! I hope you all had a nice thanksgiving. *Smile* Last month, I touched on some events/holidays that occur in November – Veterans Day and Thanksgiving, along with introducing you to romantic suspense. This month, I thought I’d talk about what we love about the holiday season, and what makes this time of year extra romantic despite how hectic and busy it is.

Letter from the editor

What do Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa have in common? I think the common denominator is hope, and hope is a very inspirational theme when writing romance. Christmas, of course, gets the most exposure – from Hallmark specials on TV, to cards, to music – the theme of hope, warm thoughts for all, and love, ripple through the month of December. Our traditions allows us to express our feelings of hope, love, and warm thoughts we have throughout the season.

I love sending the family Christmas cards, listening to music, lights, decorating the tree, check my advent calendar, baking cookies and even donating to the local charities. All of these traditions I tackle with a feeling of joy, fun, and of course, hope. Lights brighten the dark nights. Songs warm the cool heart. I love sharing. Cookies and cards allow me to tap into the goodwill inspired by sharing. I also mentioned charities – I like giving to the Salvation Army and the local food bank during this time as I know there are some out there who might need the support.

If you look at media such as TV/Movies, books, and songs, many focus on hope and how that feeling makes the holidays extra romantic. Remember, love runs deeper this time of year and nothing embodies that more than the traditions we embrace.

Question: What do you love about the holidays? The Rush? The Magic? The Traditions? Nothing? What’s your favorite traditions?

Feedback from my Romance/Love Newsletter DTD: 6 NOV 2019:

I love the whole Thanksgiving dinner, but my fav is pie, especially Dutch apple with real whip cream. My hubby's family tradition was to start on desserts mid-morning, usually when the guys came in from hunting. A tradition I could definitely get behind *Smile*. Of course, after the turkey and all the trimmings, there's more pie *Smile* Vada

I’m a sucker for pie, too! My favorite is blueberry. My son makes a good pumpkin cheesecake. I love an apple crumble as well. Thanks for sharing!

Besides Romancing the Stone there was the TV series Moonlighting which had two characters almost falling for each other but not quite. I remember when they first kissed and the public went nuts. I think Cheers followed the same concept. Two people who were opposites yet there was a sexual tension that seemed to flow between them that everyone else saw but them but when they finally kissed the whole audience felt that kiss and it was almost orgasmic.

. I remember! Great storytelling!

Thank you for another fine News Letter.

Steph is a 911 dispatcher for LAPD. Her 99 cents Christmas story, "Mr. Christmas Elf" is available on Amazon Kindle. Her Christmas story, "Joseph's Cradle" is also also available as a hardback from 4RV Publishing. A heartwarming story for young children.
