Spring Fever!
Do you have a yellow polka dot rash accompanied with a high grade fever everytime you sit down at your computer? Are you seeing spots in shades of soft subtles everywhere you look on Writing.Com and hear bees buzzing chants in your sleep? If you answered 'yes' put the thermometer down and call a doctor because I don't have a clue why you're experiencing those strange symptoms.
Spring is here and with it comes Spring Fever for some of us. No, it's not contagious, or at least not physically. Spring to me signifies a renewal or a new beginning, if that makes any sense. The weather has warmed up and I'm compelled to spend time outdoors enjoying family, fresh air, planting flowers, mowing the yard, camping, planning cook-outs, picnics, etc. I've been couped up all winter and now I want to spend every wonderful moment doing something outside. Of course all of these activities are going to take time away from the computer and my online activities. I'm sure I am not the only one. Even though I'm enjoying my offline life and the moments of spring, Writing.Com is here waiting on me.
Actually, every year I find myself experiencing some weird symptoms of my own. The withdrawals from Writing.Com are very intense. I can be outside working on my flower beds and that single rose bud looks picture perfect. . .perfect for a C-Note. A gentle breeze caresses my cheeks inspiring me to write a poem. Finding a delicate sprout stirs an emotion that I want to pen and share. A spring storm taps into my creativity as does a little butterfly fluttering over my head. The smell of wildflowers and fresh cut grass tempts me to sit down and find a way to describe them. My hair blows across my face prompting me to turn around to watch as the orchid grass sways in the wind daring me to bring it to life with words, and my day moves on until the setting sun sends me indoors. I finally log onto Writing.Com without a thought of what opportunities the day presented me until I see that contest or activity that stirs that familiar feeling within me. "Ahhhh. Yes, I remember!"
If you're hosting a contest or activity don't worry if entries and participation seem a bit slow because really it's not. Members are still logging in and many of them are just logging in at different times than usual.
This is also a good time to take advantage of the season when creating an item or selecting prompts. The ideas are endless.
If you're looking for a contest or activity to get those creative juices flowing or to share your inspiration, don't forget to check out "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com" and "Activities @ Writing.Com" . There are so many things happening around the site that if you take the time to look around you won't be disappointed.
Until next time...
