Letter from the editor

Statistics show advertising with commercials is big business. Here are a couple of staggering facts:

*Tv* A quarter of the show you're watching is commercials

*Football* A Super Bowl ad costs six figures per second

*Computer* Online ads cost advertisers forty billion

To put that into perspective, check out how many advertisers the internet giants have acquired:

*Bulletv* Google—Four million
*Bulletv* Facebook—Two million
*Bulletv* Twitter—Sixty Thousand

Some digital marketing experts estimate that most Americans are exposed to approximately four thousand to ten thousand ads a day. With those numbers, the industry is trying harder to win you over by producing entertaining commercials. They have found if they can evoke a laugh you will remember their product.

A lot of us can agree that most commercials are annoying, but there are plenty of funny ones to watch. For example, search YouTube for Funny Super Bowl Ads, and you'll never go back to cat videos again.

I've watched many Super Bowl commercials. At six figures a second, they've got to be good. Do I remember what they're selling? No, not really, but I do laugh out loud. Posted below are a couple of my all-time favorites.

*Video* I had no idea this 2011 Super Bowl commercial was selling a Volkswagen Passat, but by the end, the kid had me laughing.

*Video* Do you like dogs? How about Harrison Ford? Check out this funny 2019 Super Bow ad!

*Video* I burst out laughing every single time I watch this one. It took me a long time to realize what they were selling, but it's hilarious and entertaining.
Bud Light - 2008 Super Bowl Commercial  Open in new Window.

Next time you need a laugh, search for a funny commercial instead of a cat video. It might even inspire a story or two!

A sig for the best genre in the world--Comedy!
