Volunteering

Last month's newsletter was about asking for help, and a related topic would be asking to help, or volunteering!

So, how can you find volunteer opportunities? One of the best way would be to look for groups. Click on "Browse by Type" on the left of the screen, then click on "Groups." Find a group with interests that match your own and join! It's that easy!

One suggestion I'd have is to sit back and learn first before you offer to help. Find out how the group works first. This will help to make sure it's an environment you'll be comfortable in before you jump right in. Often groups will have things like forums where you can talk to other members and learn more about the group and how it works.

Another way to volunteer is to offer help with a contest. I'd suggest first entering the contest or in some way interacting first, like reviewing the contest and reviewing entries into the contest.

In all cases, be prepared that your offer may get turned down, particularly if you offer to help run a contest or activity.

*Star* If you want to help with running Writing.Com, one big help is just to participate on the site! Enter contest, write in forums, review pieces of writing, and invite friends to join! Another great way to help is to welcome new members, in forums like: "Noticing NewbiesOpen in new Window. [13+] and "Writing.Com General DiscussionOpen in new Window. [13+]

As always, keep on writing!
