Find a friend
Happy 2019!
One of the most prolific writing times in my life happened when I was in college. I had just discovered WDC, but I didn't have a lot of online friends yet. My sister and my husband are creative types, too, and we decided to try a little writing challenge. We took turns, each one of us coming up with a prompt, and we all wrote a short story based on the prompt. It was a lot of fun seeing how we could each come up with our own story!
I really think finding a writing buddy can be super helpful. Not only does it keep you motivated to write, but it helps to bounce ideas off someone else, get a new perspective, and get a second pair of eyes looking for typos or reading for clarity.
There are lots of ways to find a writing buddy, in real life and on (I think that's my new favorite emoji!)
If you live in a more urban area, you may find local writing groups through a bookstore or library. Most towns have a library, so if they don't have a writing group, consider starting one!
There are many, many awesome groups here at Writing.Com, too! Check out a few linked below in my Editor's picks!
Some people don't need a writing buddy, and that's fine, too, of course! For me, I find I'm most motivated by deadlines and expectations. If I sign up to do something, it will force me to do it. Otherwise, I'd probably procrastinate.
As always, keep on writing!
