Letter from the editor

“Before forty, you think that exhaustion is something like a long-lasting hangover. But at forty you learn all about it. Even your passions exhaust you.”
― Kevin Barry

There is always a lull after all the birthday festivities end. When the euphoria wears off, You've spent 1-2 weeks jumping from activity to activity writing your butt off and now, it just ends. Where do you put that energy? That stamina? Well, it's up to you to find that happy medium of writing and getting some much-needed sleep. Oh and you might want to get some laundry done, I don't know, BATHE. *Laugh* Just kidding.

I am winding down my own birthday activity. This is the last week and I'm already thinking how can I keep up the level of activity I've had here for the past three weeks? I've been wanting to be more active and running an activity that basically requires participation multiple times each day. The truth is, I don't know if I can keep it up but I can sure try. I envy the people here who are so disciplined to review or write something every single day.

So here's to you diligent writers and active participants. - this is your time to shine. Write in, tell me what your secret is. Tell me what keeps you motivated and how you go from 'starting' a contest entry to 'finishing' a contest entry. Share your experiences and I'll share your ideas (giving you credit) in my next newsletter. Deal?

In the meantime, take a moment to check out the contests and activities I have listed below. If you enter any of these contests, send me a link to your entry and I'll reward you for participating! *CoinGold*

I received some wonderful feedback to my last newsletter [#9064] "What is an RPG?Open in new Window. and I'm proud to share it with you.

From Walkinbird 3 Jan 1892 Author Icon with "Meet You at Maggot FarmOpen in new Window.
Thank you, Brooke Author Icon really enjoyed the newsletter on RPGs, and your recounting of classic RPG history. My spouse, Halikar Author Icon has all this and more, if anyone is looking to acquire some further knowledge or something in-hand, to actually try. Even an In 'n Out (Wdc format, not beloved hamburger chain) can be a brief, fun attempt at roleplaying. It borders on Comedy Improv, if that's what you're going for, and because it is basically banter, can also help find that right character voice, if you have a friend that is willing to "converse" for a while. I have provided a link to my Tolkien/Hobbit In-n-Out, as an example.

That sounds like fun! Thanks for sharing! :)

Aw man! You missed some of the greatest RPGs of all time! Speaking of the video game series like Final Fantasy, Morrowind, and Assasin's Creed.

I think I got burned out toward the end and didn't go as in-depth as I could have. Sorry!

Mentioning RPG's, One of my favorite series is by Joel Rosenburg called Guardians of the Flame. It is where a group of players are transported into their game. If you haven't read them you should. I have the entire series in hardcover, fantastic series.

Thanks for sharing. I'll have to check them out! :)
