Join the Group!
Sometimes I feel like I collect hobbies. Whether it's writing, geocaching, hiking, running, bird-watching, etc., I find a hobby and it becomes my life for a while. I immerse myself in it, reading books on it, practicing all the time, writing about it, and finding others interested in it.
That last one is pretty important, I think, and coming from an introvert, that's saying a lot! I don't typically go out of my way to be social all the time, but humans are a social species. We tend to find enjoyment in being with others that share our interests and goals, right? That's why groups (in real life AND on WDC) can be so rewarding and helpful!
Groups can help you share ideas and learn about whatever it is you're passionate about. I know personally I've learned far more about writing by being part of this website than I did in school! Sure, school provided me with a solid foundation, particularly when it comes to grammar and technical aspects of writing, but WDC gave me even more. It provided a place to exchange ideas and get invaluable feedback!
Groups on WDC can be very useful for a variety of things. Often, members use a group as a "bank" for an activity or contest, but it can also be a way to keep like-minded members together for a specific goal. There are writing groups, reviewing groups, groups for courses and groups for hobbies.
Groups can be helpful for specific things, like setting items to group-only views or creating things like newsletters. There are a lot of options when it comes to groups. For ideas, click on "Browse by Type" on the left side of the screen, and select "Groups." Take a look at the current Groups out there and find the use that's right for you!

As always, keep on writing!

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (February 14, 2018)" ), discussed "how you play the game" or focusing the shift from winning to learning. Here is some feedback from Newsletter readers:
