Letter from the editor

It's one of those times of year where we really slow down around WDC and there doesn't seem to be a whole lot going on. It's likely because many of us are busy offline or just aren't around nearly as much as we were before the start of the year. So what all do we have going on around here? We have so many things that keep coming back around and are steady parts of the community.

What are *your* goals for the new year? Think it over, write a letter and win big prizes!

First, there's Dear Me. This is January's Official Contest and it has been coming around at the beginning of the year for as long as I can remember. If you're looking to be motivational to yourself, kick your butt into gear for the new year, or just vent out what you would like to accomplish in the near future, give it a look and maybe enter!

Another contest that has been around for nearly 14 years is The Writer's Cramp. This contest has a prompt that changes daily and is a way to get yourself in the habit of writing on a daily basis if that's what you want to be doing. Take a look at some of the prompts and challenge yourself to enter a couple of times a week, if not every day!

While this isn't a contest or activity, it has been around for quite a while and is a great tribute to members of the site who have passed. Stop by and look into the portfolio of those who are no longer with us, get inspired by their words to create something new of your own and just remember them for who they were.

It takes something great to withstand the test of time and there are definitely more that could be added to this list. I would love to see even more contests or activities keep coming around year to year, becoming something we look forward to and think of as an integral part of our online community.

Ask & Answer

My question for you this time: Do you have something that can keep running for years to come or have a favorite contest or activity that has been running for years?

Question from before ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (December 16, 2015)Open in new Window.): What do you think the next big thing will be in 2016? Is it something you want to make a reality?

Patrece ~ Author Icon replied: I am planning a new activity for 2016, which I am still planning out. I hope to really engage the community here with it! Stay tuned!

I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us this year! *Bigsmile* - 🦄🏳️‍🌈Sapph
