"Those Days" Happen

All of us have "one of those days". Sometimes, it seems like one of those weeks. Despite that, try to write.

There are days that just absolutely 100% defeat you. I am actually in the middle of one. Or, rather, at the very end. It seems like just as I adjust, or fix, one situation, another one pops up. Maybe it is a girl thing, but each new issue just keeps me on the verge of tears. I've only succumbed once, when I heard of the passing of (suser:sherrigibson). At that point, I couldn't help it. She was an amazingly sweet woman.

Typically, I am not an unhappy person. Busy, sometimes to the point I feel as if I have not had a chance to breathe, but not unhappy. Overwhelmed is likely the most descriptive word.

Now, some people think that writing in a journal or blog is something for tweens or for people who just don't have anything else to do. Some even think that it is for someone who is looking for attention, or fishing for compliments or support. But I have another viewpoint.

Being able to house a journal or blog online is a way to air your feelings, opinions, and sometimes just life situations to more than just the few people you might interact with every day face to face. I live in a small town, and I don't really have the opportunity to interact with people socially often. I am far too busy working as a teacher, doing copy editing for a small academic publishing company, and being a parent. I simply don't have the time.

If you have had "one of those days", though, writing things down can help with calming you down. And, if you have something to write down that you might not want to share with others, WdC does have the option of making blog entries "private", so only you can see it. And then later, if you so choose, you can delete it. Or leave it for yourself.

Writing, in itself, is therapeutic to some people. Where you forget about spelling, about grammar, and you just lay your thoughts down on paper. Sometimes, I forget that it helps me. I simply don't write for a very long time, and then once I do, I surprise myself at how much better I feel.

If it is not something you do typically, I think you ought to try. Even if it is on paper in some beautiful leather journal that you can fill with the scrawl of anger, or the flowing script of being in love. (My handwriting changes depending on my feelings. It is strange, likely, but it does.)

Not all writing has to be some story for the entertainment of other people. Sometimes, you can write just to write. Honestly, those are the things I find even more interesting, most of the time.

My apologies for the rambles. Whether you have had an amazing day, or a frustrating one, why not write it down? It is very interesting to look back at later.

From midnighteddie: That's my problem. I do not create my main characters with any flaws. I have to really work on that. Great newsletter.

Thank you! And yes, flaws do add a lot of dimension. I look forward to seeing some writing from you soon!
