Letter from the editor

God, The Author

God is the author of our lives. For a Christian, we want to follow the path He has laid out for us. But this is not the aspect of God's authorship I wish to discuss in this editorial.

God is the author of one of the most widely sold books in the entire world -- the Bible. Though physically written by many people...Paul, Isaiah, and Luke, just to name a few...God was the inspiration, and often the voice, behind every word written.

The Bible is often referred to as God's Word. This is some of what is written about His Word in the Bible.

*Star* It has power:

"Is not my word like fire," declares the Lord, "and like a hammer that breaks rocks in pieces?"
         Jeremiah 23:26

"Word" is often used to describe the Bible. The 'Word' can and is also used in reference to, and to describe, God and Jesus. Refer John 1:1.

Within the Bible, it can also refer to God Himself, and Jesus, the Son of God.

*Star* It is one of our arsenal of weapons against Satan, a weapon which builds our spirit against spiritual attacks:

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
         Ephesians 6:17

Reading the Word of God arms us with the knowledge of what is moral, it fills our spirit with assurance of God's help and constant presence.

*Star* It is instructional:

How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.
         Psalm 119:9

Self-explanatory, except that it is not only applicable to 'young men', but to all people, everywhere.

*Star* It is living, dynamic, active and effective:

For the word fo God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to diving soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
         Hebrews 4:12

This tells us that the Word of God can help us separate out what is a fleshly matter and what is a more crucial matter of the spirit. It is again likened to a weapon, but a weapon in the spiritual realm rather than of the physical.

*Star* More than just alive, it is everlasting:

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever.
         Isaiah 40:8

And lastly, God may very well be the first one to ever employ the use of a copyright clause. *Wink*

"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."
         Revelation 22:18-19

Sometimes, I feel like I am wading through a dark pool of sludge in writing. Each sentence seems to take several re-writes and the subsequent one flows with as little ease. God can identify with the writer. He is a creative God, He created words! God is an author, He understands the process we go through. God is with us constantly.

Writing is a gift of God. It is one that I count as the most precious He has given to me.

I think this is why I feel fulfilled when I am writing. Do you have any brief stories/snippets to share of your own writer's heart and your spiritual
state? Please do share via the Feedback form, whether you believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, or not. I would love to hear from anyone. *Smile*

Till next time;

Ask & Answer

Oh darlin', I am aching from reading this newsletter. First I ache for your loss and also my tardiness in reading this. I realized something was wrong and you had changed your handle. I am so torn by your loss. I hold each of my kitties a little closer tonight.

Thank you, my dear. Loss does give you a new appreciation of life. But I am ever grateful that from death, God brings life.

Thank you to all of the following, and anyone I may have inadvertantly missed. Your personal messages of sympathy and support were greatly appreciated. Dear Pudi still brings a tear to my eye, but the two wee kitties are a new and precious delight from God.
