Happy Birthday!
September is an exciting time at Writing.Com. For those of you who might not be aware, it's Writing.Com's Birthday! This year we're celebrating 14 years!
It's Writing.Com's Birthday Week Celebration!
It's difficult to prepare for the Birthday celebration, because we never know what to expect! Every year has been a pleasant surprise of activities, gifts and contests! If you can, plan some free time to participate in the many events that will be going on during the first week of September!
So how can you be in the know about all the fun? There are several ways:
"Writing.Com Party Central 2024!" - There is usually a link to party central on every page during the Birthday week, located on the left side of each screen. Keep an eye out for it! It will be the center of all activity for the week!
Emails - Keep an eye out for emails with special information from WDC and from the groups you belong to about birthday events and activities!
The Usual Suspects - The usual places to look for contests & activities: "Writing Contests @ Writing.Com" [E] and "Activities @ Writing.Com" [E] are the places where contests & activity hosts advertise their upcoming events, so keep an eye on them for birthday fun, too!
Newsfeed - Probably one of the best places to keep an eye on sitewide news and happenings! (Also, follow "Site News & Announcements" [ASR]) One of the best newsfeeds I've found to know what's going on is Writing.Com Support . To add someone to your newsfeed, click on the "plus" sign next to their username! For more on Newsfeeds, see "Newsfeed"
Many of the regular contests & activities will most likely have rounds and prompts involving the WDC Birthday. "The Writer's Cramp" [13+] is one that typically has some really fun, birthday-related prompts!
Look below in my Editor's Picks for just a few of the Birthday events that are going on! Don't forget to visit:
A really great item to keep in mind with the upcoming WDC Birthday Bash:
Above all, have fun and always, keep on writing!

PS - Have you seen the new emoticons?? We tend to get lots of new ones during WDC's Birthday Week, and I'm particularly excited about the spider & web emoticons so far! Party on!

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (August 6, 2014)" ), discussed Merit Badges.
I like how you have a newsletter dedicated to contests and activities on WDC. I have found many things to do on this site on my own; with this newsletter I have found many other things to participate in. There is a wide variety of different activities to participate in which has so far been lots of fun. The different activities have helped me to try new types of writing Thank you for having a place where these activities and contests can be put in a place for other writers on WDC.

On behalf of the Contests & Activities Editors (Leger~ , NaNoNette , 🦄🏳️🌈Sapph and I), thanks for your comment! I personally love this Newsletter, too!
Badges are fun to get, especially when it's one you haven't gotten. lot

I agree!
I think they are a great part of this website. I give out my mbs to my contest winners or for my leaders when they run into that 14 day limitation on badge sending for community notice. You cannot sent a person a badge or a Awardicon again 14 days from the last time you sent them one. As a Jr. leader I help out in that way for several organizations.

Great point! I also love that there are so many reasons to give out MBs!
Thanks for the plug! Lots of great info here. I did not know there were so many different badges :o!

Isn't it awesome!?
I love giving out merit badges, and the new custom merit badges are awesome. I love seeing the new designs SMs comes up with.
~ Elle - on hiatus
I love seeing them, too! I love how our site keeps growing and getting better and better!
