It's Birthday Time Again on WDC

First things first. Loyal readers of this newsletter--in particular, my edition of it--opened a decidedly vacant newsletter last month. I apologize for not completing my issue and for failing to match the continual high standards of my fellow Noticing Newbies editors. I assure that such a lapse will not happen again.

This month, may I offer you an enticing look at what is THE Event of the Year on Writing.Com?

September 1st marks the 14th Annual Birthday of Writing.Com, and the beginning of site-wide festivities, some of which may last all month. Normally, the official WDC celebration lasts one week. Many established groups offer their own writing or reviewing contests, raffles, auctions and other activities and events themed to the 14th year of this fabulous writing site.

Very soon (if it has not happened when this issue is released), The StoryMistress Author Icon will post a link to Party Central, your one-stop spot to find out ALL that is happening throughout the site regarding birthday festivities. Take a moment to check out this link to last year's events. It will give you some idea of what's in store for you.

One of the most amazing things I've noticed about our members is the tremendous creativity they exhibit, not only in their writings, but also in the many events and activities they organize. Newbies and seasoned members alike will want to take part in the many planned birthday activities. Merit Badges, Awardicons, and literally millions of gift points (GPs) will be available for the taking ... uh, earning. *Wink*

Frankly, I believe the WDC Birthday celebration is the perfect way to become involved with the site. You 're new and may be wondering where to start. Parcel out some time during each day of the first week in September to play. Even an hour poking in the many scheduled events may reap a bumper crop of GPs, badges and ribbons AND more insight into the actual workings of Writing.Com. Bitem , Username, and Emoticon links will roll off your typing fingers like second nature. Plus you'll meet new friends and learn about some fabulous groups you didn't know existed. Don't pass up this opportunity.

One final reason to check in daily is to see what new things The StoryMaster Author Icon and The StoryMistress Author Icon has cooked up for our enjoyment. They always have something wonderful for us to see and use.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you around the site during Writing.Com's 14th Annual Birthday celebration.

Ask & Answer

And from the mailbox about my last Noticing Newbies newsletter, "WorkingOpen in new Window..

From innerlight Author Icon: I'm a newbie. No kidding; still haven't found my way around. But everything I see feels me with hope I will become a good writer.

Would you believe I still find new things on site after being here more than six years? Try something new each time you log on. As for becoming a good writer, just keep writing and learning. Listen to what others say, BUT think about those comments and then use what your gut tells you. *Wink*

From kelly Author Icon: What are most newbies unaware of on the site? What do most find the most useful part of the site? Just askin'.

That's a tough question, kelly Author Icon. Each person has different needs. I think one of the most useful links for everyone is "Writing.Com 101Open in new Window..

From Somtymes Author Icon: You guys forgot all the item numbers! Oops!

From GERVIC Author Icon: Hi Jace!

Don't get offended but this newsletter seems incomplete. The seem to forget on putting the item id numbers on all the bitems you have here. And the letter from editor section is not complete as well. It seems that you sent an unfinished draft.

It must be an awesome newsletter if it has this. Maybe you will resend a complete one. Thanks! Best regards.

Thanks for noticing, folks. *Shock* I definitely messed this one up.

From NaNoNette Author Icon: On the bright side, now every newbie knows what a newsletter template looks like before we fill it in. *Bigsmile* Mine looks similar.

Thanks for looking on the bright side, Miss Giselle. *Smile*
