Spring is (almost) Here!

Last month, I wrote about being snowed in, and we had a few snow storms here in the Eastern US since then, but we're finally getting closer to Spring! Sure, we still have a few days here and there that dip below freezing, but we're seeing more and more days with temps in the 40s and 50s, too!

I know January is the time for resolutions and new beginnings, but Spring tends to feel the same for a lot of people, too. That's why we get the whole "Spring Cleaning" thing every March. It's a great time to assess our goals, get rid of the old and maybe start something new!

It's a great time of year to take a look at your Contests & Activities and maybe spruce them up a bit!

*Flower1* Change the rules! Spice things up a bit! Switch genres or item types for a round or two! Poll your viewers/participants to see what they might be interested in! Don't be afraid to ask for feedback and listen to it!

*Flower2* Clean things up! Perhaps it's a good idea to purge old messages in forums. Or take a look at some of your items, especially ones that have links to entries, winners or informational items. Try to find any broken links or links to "invalid items" and clean those up!

*Flower3* Take out the trash! If you have a contest or activity that hasn't seen any action in quite some time, take some time to see if it's really worth continuing. Before scrapping it altogether, try a different advertising route. Use "Portfolio HighlightingOpen in new Window., your handle, "Biography TabOpen in new Window., "Notebook TabOpen in new Window., Plug Pages, Sponsored Items, and signatures. The list goes on and on! There are many ways to get your Contest or Activity seen by WDC members! But if you're still not getting entrants, try asking a few trusted friends their opinion. Maybe your rules need tweaking. Don't be afraid to change it up a little, and also don't be afraid to get rid of what isn't working!

*Flower4* Participate! One of the best ways to get reviews is to give them, right? Well, sometimes the best way to attract participants is to participate in others' events, too! It can't hurt! *Smile*

*Flower5* Set some goals! (Or maybe re-assess your New Year's Goals) Try something fun, like climbing the Most Active Reviewers and Most Credited Reviewers List. Make a goal to write more Product Reviews or to create a Poll or Interactive Story!

Use this time of year to get started on something new! Let your writing blossom! *Smile*

Always, keep on writing!

Ask & Answer

My last newsletter, ("Contests & Activities Newsletter (February 19, 2014)Open in new Window.), discussed being Snowed In!

What do I do on a snowy day in???? I haven't seen on in at least 12 years or more! I live in Phoenix, AZ and we're having record heat wave! 88 degrees and more! Send the snow our way! We WANT A SNOW DAY!!!!!!!

I wish I could have sent you some of our snow!! *Bigsmile*

It is snowy but that isn't normal for Portland, OR. I began a crocheting project to get rid of a lot of left over yarn. I had finished all my writing and I needed a brain break. I love to review on Wdc.
