About This Newsletter

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff." - The Doctor

Time Traveling with Doctor Who

Mr. Sophy and our Labradaughter, Daisy, are taking off for a week without me, leaving me home alone. While I certainly enjoy time to myself every once in a while, I am not sure I am cut out to be alone for a whole week. So I decided to keep a Diary of my experience, not only as a writing exercise, but also to leave for Mr. Sophy to read when he returns so he can either A. see how miserable I was while they were gone and never leave me alone again, or B. see how well I did without them and feel free to do it more often, or, worst case scenario, C. use to look for clues in case I disappear.

Day 1
Dear Diary,

Mr. Sophy and Daisy just drove away from the house. I thought they would never leave! It's not that I want them gone, but the sooner they go, the sooner they come home. Or something like that. They were due to leave at 11am. It is now 4pm as they pull away, honking and waving . Thank goodness, because I have to leave soon to go to a BBQ, and I would have hated to have to leave before they even got out of the driveway.

I've made plans for myself for several nights this week so I do not get too bored or lonely, and I am looking forward to this evening with some good friends. And then tomorrow night I will be ...Ooops wait, is that the garage door opening? Yup, they are back already. Not even sure if they made it to the end of the street before he realized he forgot something. Oh, isn't that sweet, he just wanted one more hug.*Hug1* *Inlove* *Hug2* Awww!

....:::: later that evening ::::....

The BBQ was fun, but my friends now have two children, ages 3 and 1, so everyone was headed for home before 8pm so the girls could get baths and go to bed. They said I could stay but I know they are exhausted themselves, so I came home. So I guess I'll watch some TV and go to bed myself. I can do this - I can make it through this week alone and I will have a grand time!

Day 2
Dear Dairy,

Slept pretty well, much to my surprise. I wasn't sure how well I would sleep in that giant bed all by myself, without Mr. Sophy talking in his sleep on one side, and Daisy taking up 2/3 of the bed as she maneuvers herself sideways and kicks me in the kidneys with her back feet. Did I mention, I could get used to this!? Scrambled some eggs for breakfast and dropped a little on the floor - missed Daisy in that instant because instead of calling her in to clean it up, I had to bend down and wipe it up myself. So that sucked. And then I had to wash the dish myself instead of letting Daisy clean it for me. *Wink*

Now to figure out the rest of my day. One more day off before going back to the office tomorrow. I have so many shows on the DVR, so I will watch some of them, maybe go to the store and get some healthy food to cook this week, try some new recipes out that Mr. Sophy might like. Oh and I should get the tax stuff finished and to the accountant. I think I am going to get a lot of things done this week without the distractions of Daisy and Mr. Sophy around. Maybe if I make a list it will help me get a lot done today, and the rest before and after work:

*Box* Finish information and take to accountant
*Box* De-clutter home office
*Box* Rearrange hall linen closet
*Box* Watch and delete all the "Grey's Anatomies" and "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" off DVR
*Box* Read The God of Small Things for book club
*Box* Eat healthy - shop and cook some new recipes
*Box* Write poem for WDC contest
*Box* Treat self to pedicure

Well that seems like a reasonable list of things to accomplish this week - good luck to me! Maybe I can even get a few of them checked off today! *Bigsmile*

Day 3
Busy day - will write more later.

Day 4
Even busier day - will do better tomorrow.

Day 5
This was a really dumb idea to keep a diary - I am so busy I cannot possibly find time to write here too. Maybe tomorrow.

Day 6

Day 7
Wow, I really have to get back my "To Do" list. Mr. Sophy and Daisy will be home tomorrow night and I have not gotten as much done as I thought I would, and the house is a mess (there are take-out/deliver containers everywhere!) so I've got to clean too. Let's see how I've done so far ........

*Box* Finish tax information and take to accountant
*Box* De-clutter home office
*Box* Rearrange hall linen closet
*Boxcheck* Watch and delete all the "Grey's Anatomies" and "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" off DVR
*Box* Read The God of Small Things for book club
*Box* Eat healthy - shop and cook some new recipes
*Box* Write poem for WDC contest
*Box* Treat self to pedicure

Okay well, I haven't gotten any much done, but I have been busy! I was on Facebook soon after I wrote the Day 2 entry, and my niece was sharing some quotes and pictures from Doctor Who, a show she and her husband love. And so then when I got on Amazon to order my book group book The God of Small Things, I noticed that "Doctor Who" was available on Amazon Prime. So I started watching it on my computer and got hooked. So the next day my plan was to watch some more on my Ipad, so I could be more portable watching it while I did my chores - yeah, that didn't work out.

I started with the 9th Doctor, Christopher Eccleston, when the series came back in 2005, and so far made it through the 11th Doctor, Matt Smith in Season 5. Only 2 more seasons to go until I am caught up and ready for the 12th Doctor! *Bigsmile* Just when I get used to Matt Smith, apparently they are going to replace him. I know that's part of the plot, but it's the part I don't like. David Tennant is my favorite Doctor of the 3 so far, but Matt Smith is growing on me. I still miss Rose though. Hmm, no "rose" emoticon? I thought for sure there was one. Maybe I can ask The StoryMistress Author Icon to make one!

But I digress. The Doctor is an alien Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey who travels through all of time and space in his TARDIS. And since I've now lost a week of my life watching Doctor Who, I guess I have time traveled with him as well! Anyway, no more time to write in this diary - so behind, so much to do. I'll be glad when Bob and Daisy return and I can get back to my regularly scheduled life!

Hahaha! Great NL, Sophy, and I must follow Diane's blog now.
I know where Diane works, so it can't be my internist, although it so sounds like him. I recognized the ego since I made friends with his nurse.
Poor Diane! All those egos...
The one I live with has his ego reduced down to a tiny one, over the last 48 years, by yours truly.*Laugh*

Nice job, Joy - if only you could do the same for most of the rest of them! *Laugh*

Sophy - Where to start? First, although I'm sure you're surprised to hear it, I'm rather jealous of your vacation in paradise. I'm sure you weren't expecting that reaction at all when posting all the glorious details, nonetheless you have incurred some envy from this end, but you're forgiven. Next - OMG, Diane's post was hilarious! *Laugh* Last, your reply to my comment on your last NL has shown me the error of my ways. I'm now ordering a treadmill/coat rack and a spin bike for drying laundry. Thanks for the clever suggestions. I never realized exercise could be so useful! *Thumbsup*
