Finding Inspiration

We all experience it sometimes - We want to write, but we don't know where to start. Inspiration can strike at any time, if you're paying attention, and one great place to find the spark that gets your fingers moving is Writing.Com! Often, you just need that tiny thing, like a word or an interesting idea, and it'll spark your next fantastic creation!

Here are some ideas on where you can find inspiration:

*Bullet* Contests - a great place to find interesting prompts and ideas for your writing (not to mention interacting with members and winning prizes!)

*Bullet* Interactive Stories - Reading these can inspire you to create something new out of an already existing idea. (My 2007 NaNo novel was inspired by "Central International AirportOpen in new Window. [18+], for instance!)

*Bullet* Madlibs - They're not just entertaining, but they can be inspirational, too! The strange (and often funny) juxtapositions can often inspire creative ideas. Just think of what kind of story a "crying baseball" or "fluffy pit bull" can inspire!

*Bullet* Groups - There are lots and lots of groups on WDC with all kinds of interests and objectives. Find one (or two or three) that suit you!

*Bullet* Polls - Polls can give you a sense of how people feel about something, or you might find an interesting question that gets you thinking. Either way, polls can be quite inspirational!

*Bullet* Images - You've heard it said, "A picture says a thousand words." Find that inspirational picture and write those thousand words!

*Bullet* Review! Sometimes it just takes warming up your fingers and mind to get the ball rolling. A great way to do that is to look and think critically at another person's writing.

If you find that your muse has abandoned you, you'll also find that you're not alone! Get out there and get involved. I'm sure it will help! *Smile*

Always keep on writing!
