About This Newsletter

I'm honored to be your guest host for this week's WDC Noticing Newbies Newsletter ~

The moment a man sets his thoughts down on paper,
however secretly,
he is in a sense writing for publication.

Raymond Chandler

Our WDC Community welcomes daily 'Newbies' who arrive, each with a unique voice, eager to add that voice to the symphonic chorus that is our Community. To all the 'Newbies' and 'Not So Newbies' ~ Welcome to this issue of the WDC Noticing Newbies Newsletter.
strive to embrace a form of writing, a method for critiquing, some entertainment and pleasure - in writing and reading, to grow the garden of words of the Muse Creative.

Letter from the editor

Greetings, fellow writers!

Yes, that's the first thing I noticed when I arrived here three years ago. Here, we are all peers, fellow writers. We arrive daily with unique levels of expertise, experience, publishing credits. We arrive with varied goals for our writing, and each of us is made welcome. That's as true today as it was for me several years ago when, on a chill December evening, I found a warm welcome here as a fellow writer - a peer.

Come join me and your fellow writers. Post your story, poem, article, book and open your portfolio to our prying eyes.

Post a static item in your portfolio and enter its item number on the “Plug Page” under “Things to Do and Read” in the “Site Navigation” pulldown (left side of your screen). Here also you will find "Contests" and "Activities" to spark the Muse Creative and perhaps earn a few gift points (yes, we have our own virtual currency)*Smile*.

Okay, you've done that, you've worked up the nerve to post a story, a poem, an article, or the first chapter(s) of your novel, and you're not getting reviews. Is nobody willing to comment? Is it really that AweFul*Cry* No, it's Not! Perhaps they're missing your entry. Consider the following, and see if implementing any or all of them entices more members of our Community to peek at what you've brought with you to our Community of literary and artistic peers:

*Bullet*Write a gripping or enticing tag line. The tag line is the short blurb (90 characters) that you may write to introduce or caption or describe your item. You can write it, change it, update it at will to give potential readers a lure.

*Bullet*Key words - enter as few or as many as you like, so when somebody is looking for something particular to read, they will see your item up front and close.

For some tips and guidance on posting, and a place to introduce yourself and your work, check out the following ~ you'll have some fun learning how to "bitem" and breaking the 'ice' *Wink*

While you’re exploring our Community, look about for “Things to Do and Read,” check out some of the good reading posted by fellow writers for your reading pleasure and comments. Do take a few minutes to let the writers know what you think, and why. Chances are, they’ll stop by your port and return the ‘favor.’ It’s what peers tend to do, right?

Fellow Writer, Welcome to our WDC Community of Peers ~

Ask & Answer

Before I totally wear out my welcome, as a guest host I don't have a formal Ask and Answer segment, but have a challenge ~ update some of your tag lines, item key words, and stop in at "Noticing NewbiesOpen in new Window. to say 'hi' to fellow Newbies and not-so-Newbies. Come to the neighborhood party, so to speak, and say hello, bring the gift of your words, and share back with them in forum once you've received some reads. You may even make a friend, and certainly incite some visitors to your portfolio.*Smile*

Until we next meet,
Keep Writing!
