Reading a horror story, one that keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last page, is what every horror fan dreams of. Being scared, to the point that sleep is almost impossible, makes the read all the more worthwhile. Does that make us crazy? You bet!!!
My name is Darkin, and I’m your host this week for the Horror Newsletter.

Creepy Crawlies
Why is it that the smallest things can be the scariest? Take for instance the spider. It's small, in most instances harmless to humans, and yet, it can bring fear to the very beings that are hundreds of times its size.
Spiders, centipeds, and even flies can be very frightning to readers. Just the thought of one of them crawling on your skin can send shivers up and down a spine. Even the ones that aren't dangerous to humans can still creep out readers. And you don't even have to make them mutants to bug your readers.
Bugs are a great horror character. They have the right stuff for making readers squirm in their seats while reading. So go on, give bugs a staring role in your next horror story.
Thank you for taking the time to read. Happy Writing!

Good to know you don't get all squirrely on a dark and lonely road. Thanks for the thoughts on spookyville writing, how you described the road lends my imagination to a very strong and intense scene. Oh, that's such a fun place to start!

When I think Roads whether possessed or just some dark creature walking its yellow line, for some strange I think of King's "The long Road" and well very different book, but not horror. Thanks for featuring SolarFlare Bwhaha, indeed the dead will inherit the earth, gosh I loved that prompt!

Long dark roads are very much like long dark corridors: the stuff of nightmares.
