About This Newsletter

Gifted to me by my darling sister Kel.

What is a mystery? It's like a puzzle. A reader has to discover the secret or riddle in order to solve it and find out who the criminal or enemy is. *Smile*

Letter from the editor

*Star*What is your idea of a good mystery? Is it the common who done it, or is it action/adventure/mystery, horror/mystery, or perhaps romance/mystery combinations? Personally, I enjoy them all. There's nothing better than change. A good mystery writer knows this, and is versatile. I have come across numerous excellent mystery writers of all genres right here at WDC.

Another question is if a mystery can only be relayed in a story. Not true. Mysteries are also found in poetry, lyrics, and fictional articles, although it's much more difficult for most writers than writing flash fiction or longer stories.

The strengths and weaknesses of characters is important. Even if writing something other than a story, describe your characters' assets and vulnerabilities. The same applies to the scene of the crime and how the offense was committed. Keep the reader wondering who and why the act and/or event occurred. *Bigsmile*

Excellent examples of versatile writers are Edgar Allen Poe, Alfred Hitchcock, Stephen King, and Dean Koontz. What do you think? Are any of these authors among your favorites? Have you come across a writer here at WDC who you think is an awesome mystery writer? I'd love to see you post them if so. *Bigsmile* *Star*

**If you have a good mystery you would like read, post it here or email me. I just love a good mystery! *Delight* **
