N0TICING NEWBIES NEWSLETTER
Noticing Newbies Newsletter is geared to help members get acquainted with Writing.com. There are many things to do and learn. Our goal is to help you make your time here more fun and manageable.
Each week we select and showcase new items (poetry, short stories, essays, campfires, polls, etc.). Exposure for an item (your writing) helps to bring you more rates and reviews by fellow members and the general public...of course depending on how much exposure you want your item to have. Some writers like to keep their work private. When your work does receive exposure, it also helps bring more member interaction, which will give you the opportunity to build new friendships. Remember, it is a two-way street, so try to make an effort to reciprocate reviews.
"There's someone that you haven't already met, go introduce yourself to him or her. Walls and labels can't keep you from the people who are so similar to you in spirit. There's a friendly face behind every door if you pick the right moment to knock. Once you start your wave of creative outreach, it turns into a contagious force. People are waking up and smiling at each other, sharing their dreams without hesitation. This community is worth something."

Hello Newbies!
The holiday season is in full gear and I hope many of you are feeling the spirit. I know I am. I've completed 95% of my gift shopping, most of the gifts wrapped and I'm happy knowing that I won't be half out of my mind trying to get everything done at the last minute.
And now, I sit all curled up on my couch with a blanket wrapped around me, fire blazing in the fire place and the tree beautifully decorated for my eyes to see...I'm pleased with the fine collection of ornaments that fully cover all the branches, each with an inspiration or story. I'm happy and content. And I'm also very tired, since it is 1:02 a.m., I'm writing this newsletter which was due last Monday. So much for finishing things ahead of schedule.
It is indeed a busy time of year with students finishing up their assignments before break, many working people trying to complete projects so they can take time off for the holiday, and writers, like us, focusing on completing that story for a contest, publication or just trying to think of SOMETHING to write. When life is just plain old busy, it's tough to write sometimes...unless you are one of those people blessed with a running fountain of ideas, which is rare. So, during this holiday season, if you need a little help waking up your muse, I've listed some writing prompt links below.
Before I leave I will say, the best writing prompt is writing what you know and what you see right in front of you...one word at a time.
Have fun.

I wasn't sure if I'm supposed to submit a piece of my work or not. Really enjoying these newsletters, and especially being a part of this writing community. Thanks so much, Ysabel

Absolutely send your work! Keep up the writing!
My comment is part question. How long is a person considered a newbie? I really enjoy the newsletter dedicated to us. They are full of encouragement. Please keep it flowing.
