So much fun! I love the playfulness in your lines. Who'd know to put such a spin on a simple "knock, knock" joke!

At first reading, this poem sounded so lighthearted and even silly, but I also noticed your humor and your awareness of bad jokes.

The depth in some lines came as an unexpected surprise to me, at the second reading. You aced the transition from a simple joke to existential thoughts very cleverly, as in these reflections: "Who am I that is he? I am whoever I want to be.” Then, the playfulness in the repetition of "Knock-knock! Who's there?" adds a certain rhythm to build up the poem. The ending has a strong impact and is humorous, also.

Just a thought, here: Most lines have a great flow, some others could be smoother. For example, maybe, if you wish, “I don't care who's standing there.// Of your jokes, I am aware!” for smoothness and for better agreement with the overall tone of the poem, might be said this way, '“I don't care who's standing there,//Your jokes? I know them, I swear!”

Plus, this couplet, Who are you? ...I am he. // I am he who? ...I am me. hinted at a much deeper meaning, I thought.

So, overall, this is a witty and charming poem that put a smile on my lips.
