Reading Speed [E] We read at different speeds. |
Greetings, MikeDK! I am reviewing this piece because I discovered it on Read & Review and I immediately was drawn to it. First of all, my reviews are intended to be helpful and encouraging, not hurtful in any way. Use what you feel works for you, and leave the rest. The Positives/What I Liked Wow. I'm so impressed with this poem. What a great description on how a speed reader should slow down when reading a poem. Put the brakes on, as you say. Your second stanza is amazing! You compare speed-reading novels to devouring fast food burgers. But it's those last two lines that are my favorites. You must sip a poem like a twenty year old scotch. Wow. Suggestions/Comments to Consider Personally, I feel a poem can get away with just about anything. I happen to like the consistency of no punctuation at the end of each line. There's a freedom while reading it as such. IF you choose, twenty year old could be twenty-year-old, though it's not necessary. I just thought I'd mention it. I have a feeling you are already aware of this and have chosen not to use any punctuation at all. Final Thoughts I love this piece! You are obviously a wonderful poet.
