*Reading* THE POEM

A heartwarming poem about what it means to be an American.

*Idea* WHAT I LIKED

I loved the patriotic tone of the poem. The poem touches on those traits and attributes that make living in America special - freedom of religion, education, the opportunity for employment, and pride in serving in the military.

*Star* STRUCTURE

This is free form poem. Each stanza has 3 lines, and the last stanza is a couplet.

*Star* MECHANICS

I did not spot any spelling/punctuation mistakes. The poem is easy to read. Good use of WDC ML to make it easy on the eyes.

*Star* DESCRIPTIONS

I liked: "When I see the red, white, and blue flare as the wind whips in the gale of life, I stand proud with a tear in my eyes." This is a great visual description and I can picture a patriotic American saluting the flag, but there's also an underlying emotion description that tugs on the heartstrings of pride and accomplishment.


*Star* PARTING THOUGHTS/SUGGESTIONS

The opening invites the reader into the poem and keeps them reading. The title segways nicely into the poem's content. Honest and heartwarming!
