Greetings and welcome to writing.com!

Bleh, what a story. You’ve got lots of drama and action and potential packed in here, at least until Storm is bumped off. I know it’s just a rough draft chock full of loosely connected ideas, but it seems to me it might be more interesting and have room for more conflict and development if Storm wasn’t gotten out of the way so quickly. Now if you’re looking for advice as to how to form all of these ideas into a coherent novella or something of the sort, I’ll try my best to set out the basic concepts I’ve learned myself by hanging out on this site and getting lots of helpful feedback.

First, determine whose point of view the story takes place in, and build the framework around that one limited perspective. Omniscient PoV is looked down upon in modern writing as being cheesy and cheap, whereas a limited perspective helps us see the action through the eyes of one character and become more involved and invested in the story, rather than being simply told what’s going on and everyone’s side of things all at once.

Then, set up your basic plot focus, using the “magic formula” of goals, stakes and obstacles. The main character needs something, and the lengths to which they must go to get it drive the conflict, which raises the stakes to create tension, which ultimately leads to a growth and development of the main character as they discover something about themselves or the world around them. It might sound trite, but on closer examination one realizes that these are the essential elements of any good story.

Then you can figure out how long the story is going to be, whether it’ll be a chapter novel or a single novella or a short story of 5500 words or less. And then go where your imagination takes you! I like the sci-fi aspects of this story, with the time leapers and the threat of disaster if the Elites are pushed too hard. And the instability raging at the helm with Landers in charge is quite ominous. And you have so much else going on, there’s plenty to unpack. I’d be excited to see where this goes in the future.

Take care, thanks for sharing and keep writing *Smile* *HeartT*
