Beyond Procreation [13+] Love's role in procreation. Co-winner ? Why ? Why Not ? Contest, February 2020. |
This Review was done on behalf of House Targaryen as part of "Game of Thrones" ! Hi Beholden . I'm JACE , and I have the honor of reviewing your offering "Beyond Procreation" . The views and opinions on this review are mainly the things discovered by the reader and therefore, do not reflect necessarily to the group, activity and/or event being affiliated herein. This is only the opinion and suggestions of the reviewer, and it is still up to the author of this piece to consider this review as a corrective action or otherwise. Overall Impression. I'm writing this review as one of two in response to you being one of the top five Credited Reviewers. Actually, they said best reviewer--I decided Credited was best. Congrats to you. Though not necessarily a negative thing, but I would like to know into which contest this piece was entered. I'm curious like that. You state it was a co-winner. Again, congrats. I found your take on the procreation aspect of love both interesting and refreshing. I too found love at a later age--a second time at age 59 to a lady four years older. Obviously, procreation was not a concern. I read (and re-read) your offering. You have put a lot of thought into your essay, though I'm not really sure you actually answered the question. I submit the humans have the capability to reason--though in today's society, that may be suspect. I think that capability is why we can love at ages beyond the capacity for procreation. And the fact that we may still enjoy the continuous attempts, though not the ultimate results somehow makes life much more enjoyable. Editorial Thoughts. You wrote: Tell me that love is the force behind reproduction and I would wonder whether the force is really lust. Honestly, I believe that is a man-made compulsion. Most animals mate because of a drive that is set to specific times in their lives, whether once a year, or one time period. They don't find that need to have sex every Saturday night ... or whenever. In this we agree. If I have a favorite part of your essay, it would be your discussion of instinct. That we can take something fabulous and screw it up in some way, doesn't bode well for us continuing at the top of the food chain. Technical Considerations. I found no issues with the technical aspects (grammar and punctuation) of your writing. My Rating. 4.5. Thank you for sharing your offering.
