HAPPY WDC ACCOUNT ANNIVERSARY FROM "Anniversary Reviews" First Impressions: You raise an interesting question here. If he hasn’t done anything (yet), can he actually be punished? How can the future act that he may or may not commit condemn him to death? Considering the lengths the courts go to to make sure that someone is actually guilty before sentencing them, doing so before the crime is even committed surely can’t be right. Like the character in this story keeps pointing out, he isn’t guilty of anything in the present. Well, the story doesn’t actually ask that question - here, the Historical Correction Force takes matters into their own hands and makes sure that some crimes simply cannot be committed because the criminal isn’t around to commit them. It reminded me a little of the movie ‘Minority Report’ where psychics warn the police of an impending crime and the perpetrator gets punished pretty much as if it had already happened. Suggestions: I didn’t notice any errors and I don’t have any suggestions, so I’m going to use this section to point out something that I thought worked very well: Addressing the prisoner as Paul was nicely done as most readers won’t know that it was his first name so you didn’t give anything away too soon. The readers don’t know what is actually happening until a few paragraphs before the end. I also enjoyed the short description and the term 'Pre-Karma' which seemed to capture the essence of the story. Final Thoughts: I assume that this character isn’t the first or he won’t be the last who gets sentenced to die in this way. It also made me wonder what the effects are on the future. Sure, there are some crimes that will not be committed, but what else will change? I suppose I’ve read too many time travel stories so I’m maybe reading too much into this Overall, I thought this was well written and I enjoyed the read. ** Image ID #2154080 Unavailable ** My review has been submitted for consideration in "Good Deeds Get CASH!" .
