The premise of your story got my attention because it was familiar, yet different through your words and plot uniqueness. I like the idea of the feeling that something else is happening behind the scenes. The mystery of who is behind this movement keeps me wanting to read more of your story whenever you add to it.

Your story reminds me of a trilogy my friend read to me years ago called The Black Jewels Trilogy. A huge change like what you are writing about takes generations because it is necessary for the older generations who know the truth to die off and for history to eventually be lost. The time frame seems vague and should be mentioned clearly.

Rereading your story I did not find the reason for making this change in society that worked with the plot. It seems the change in gender is mandated but for exactly what reason? Control of society, population control, allowing some evil plan for taking over the earth, or other diabolical schemes?

Making your story full of life and vigor with emotions, actions, and things happening in the present will capture the reader's attention, and with some hints about what is going to happen or some secret underlying plan, give reasons for the readers to continue reading.
