This was a thoughtful poem and the conclusion was powerful and rang true.

Your poem was personal and therefore more interesting to read.

Your poem is well written, flows and, I think, is highly relatable to anyone who has contemplated writing New Years resolutions and has had some internal conflict with it.

My favorite line is this one: "By the end of this new year I will be further." I think that's something a lot of people don't celebrate... making some progress. Even if it's not 100% of the goals they set, some progress, aka being further, is still worth celebrating! All progress is worth celebrating.

I didn't notice any spelling or grammatical mistakes (or mistakes of any kind) in your poem.

The genres you selected are perfect for your poem.
