This one showed up on Random Reads and gave me a chuckle. I like the way you build up the story, and the last line is cool. I also like the bit about wishing for full-body armor!

Now that the contest is done (which, presumably, had a word limit) - would you like to expand the piece a bit? More about the inhabitants of the other planet and why you were chosen to save them? The story works as is but it might be interesting to see how it develops as well.
