Hi Ashbeth!

The poem is described by the narrator, possibly the mother or father of that "little boy".
The joy being a parent is outlined here. Although it's the last child (as planned), yet he holds an important place in the family. He is also loved equally like the first child depicting parent's love.
It is a simple and quite relatable poem to many families.
