A Space To Burn [E] A winded poem about leaving things to the flame and making my much needed escape. |
Hi Keaton Foster: Know My Hell! ! I'm here to take a look at your poem, "A Space to Burn." The Random Review button brought me here What a breathless poem indeed! I had to read it out loud as I felt it needed my breath to be whole. I read it and was panting through it, like a spoken word poem, or a rapper perhaps. It left me confused (a good confused), overwhelmed, and anxious. Though I'm not quite sure what your message was with this poem, the emotion was there full force, and I commend you for that. There was one small typo I noticed: "There is a news day’s sun" - I think you meant to say: new day's sun. My favorite lines were these: "What if / The ashes / Unswept / To be forever kept." I appreciated how the words sounded together in these lines as well as throughout the poem. Overall, I found the piece to be more of an art presentation rather than a poem in the strictest sense. It was an interesting read, something I had not seen before. Very raw, and visceral. The page doesn't do this form justice. I believe it probably needs to be read aloud, as I did, to be fully appreciated Thank you for sharing your writing! -Emily "WdC SuperPower Reviewers Group" E: Join the fun!
