Hi! My name is LadyGreen and I'll be giving you a review today!

I spotted your poem on the 'Read a Newbie' sidebar and was immediately intrigued. A poem influenced by British folklore and H.P. Lovecraft? Count me in!

I love the mood that you set up in this poem and I can definitely see the Lovecraftian influences in your use of evocative language. The reader really gets a sense of what the imp looks like and what kind of world it sees, which is wonderful in a poem that's so short.

The only quibble I could find with this work is that some of the word choices could be changed to evoke a stronger sense of believability.

Your imp is a living creature with its own goals and it's own way of seeing things-- something which you conveyed very well with its warning at the end. However, at the beginning of the poem, you say it was 'stricken by the sights, aghast at all the pain.' Why was it stricken? Why was it aghast? The imp is a creature of chaos, a being who serves as a warning to humanity; a goad for better behavior. Would it look at anger, chaos, and pain among human society and be upset?

Other than that, this poem was a wonderful read, evocative and delightfully dark. I'd love to see more work from you in the future!
