Greetings, Crow!
I saw this on the Newsfeed and I couldn't resist checking it out. Glad I did, too!
You've said what I think every writer (and/or 'wannabe' writer) wants to say, and I too have been in love with the written word since I can remember! Perhaps it's a fault of mine, but I have to read every thing I see, and that includes everything from menus to stop signs!
I was a straight A student when it came to English without ever having to study for tests.
And yes, writing is work, whether you do it for money or not!
And yes, I keep a thesaurus by my side whenever I write!
I also believe that using large words might not be appropriate for some writers. But that also depends on the writer's style and what he writes about. I know a lot of writers who just 'keep it simple' when composing their stories, whereas others tend to use the big words if they're appropriate for their subject (for example, a legal story would use a lot of 'legalese').
Great job with this, Crow!
'the use of words and their proper grammatical construction is absolutely essential to good writing.' (I couldn't agree more!)
Kee ponw riting on, my friend! Thanks for sharing this, and have a great day! Now get back to writing! *Laugh*
