Title: The Next Best Option

First Impression: The first paragraph hooked me with Brenda being able to empathize with almost anyone. A friend of Brenda's is murder, so Brenda investigates to see what she can find.

What needs your attention: I encountered no technical problems or anything else that needs attentions. My only suggestion would be to use Brenda in another mystery story because she is a sympathetic character with the ability to connect the clues in a mystery.

What part I liked best: I like Brenda because she is a strong and independent woman who reader's can sympathize with.

Overall impression: The author moves the plot forward at a good pace while making the descriptions and the clues part of the action of the story. The main character is a woman that the reader can identify with because of her college debt and taking any willingness to take any job to pay off the loan. Brenda is a well written character with both strengths and weaknesses. Her weakness is shown in needing more then empathy to solve the murder of her friend. Brenda does a good job of connecting to dots to solve the murder, and demonstrates good judgement by going to the police instead of confronting the murder herself.
