Plot/story elements:

Did I feel attached to the story or poem?

I love the active voice you use in this piece like gripped into fear, it's quite a powerful opening line. But, I don't really understand the poem so I had trouble being drawn into it. I get that it was about the mass shootings because you gave a great description of it but I didn't get the greater message behind it. Which mass shootings are you speaking of, all of them? Or certain ones?

Would I recommend this piece of writing to someone else?

I think I would make references to one of the events so we could tie it together. I love where your thinking is because I probably agree with you. I did get the idea that the people in power don't want us to really change the status quo: all heads bow a moment of sllence, while you vowed to the master evoke a feeling of deference towards a position of power that really doesn't deserve it.

Was there a clear purpose to it?

I guess this where I"m the most lost. The way I interpret the piece, all victims of mass shootings are the blood of the innocent and the perpetrators are the ones with inflated egos who ruin it all, but I don't understand is who is exactly to blame? The perpetrators or the masters who don't want to challenge status quo? Or, is it both?

I love the similes like comparing the aggressors to Pilate and the active voice like gripped and lack of conscious.
