Plot/story elements:

Did I feel attached to the story or poem?

I think this very accurately portrays the feel of large cities. People do tend to retreat into themselves because they learn quickly that being too extraveted can bring on a lot of attention and some it negative. It's natural for people to be accosted in large cities when they make eye contact. If it seems to be a bit cold and heartless, then it probably is.

Would I recommend this piece of writing to someone else?

It's an accurate portrayal of how visiting a city can feel to some who are like fish out of water. I would recommend this piece to anyone who has ever marveled at the sociological phenomenon of closed off people in the big city.

Was there a clear purpose to it?

It described many attributes of a big city like movements of people like a herd, smelling of cigarettes and other asundry scents and the feel of alienated people.

*StarStruck* Glows:

You do a great job of describing the less than appealing attributes of big city life and I can see why it feels that way but I would venture to say it's an awfully near sighted perspective.

*Vine1* Grows:

What about culture and diversity and the miracles of modern architecture and living? I love my growing city precisely because it's a crossroads of culture. It's awesome to be woven into the fabric of a landscape that constantly changes.

*Dialog* Miscellaneous Comments:

Just a guess, but I wonder if you love quiet country living or live in the city but don't like it.
